Spiritually Centered Guidance & Counseling Pathway

Self-exploration and discovery through alternative modalities and spiritual practices

About Spiritually Centered Guidance & Counseling

Esoteric and alternative healing modalities

In the Western world we call the field of healing and wellness, the "Mental Health Field". While mental health is extremely important, there are other parts of ourselves that are being skipped over in the name of science and intellect. Don't get me wrong, the mental health field and all of the progress that has been made since the early 19th century has been remarkable and so many of us have benefited from practices that were founded through the field of this 'soft science'. AND, we are starting to learn that there is more to wellness than just 'mental' health.

This Spiritually Centered Guidance Pathway is not a new approach to healing and wellness, but an ancient one on many levels. It is returning to practices that have been not only overlooked in the name of scientific legitimacy but also historically shunned and exiled.

The Spiritual Guidance Pathway is not some sort of underground healing container either. It's simply a reintroduction of philosophy, spirituality, and the divine arts into the arena of self-exploration, wellness, and healing.

Through my personal and professional experiences I've learned that the path to wholeness, fulfillment, and spiritual purpose starts with the art of 'knowing thyself'. This pathway offers folks a variety of different ways to embark on that journey.

A note: While this spiritual guidance container uses a variety of modalities & methods, it is rooted in natal astrology as that is my main area of expertise.

How it works:

After you've decided that this is your pathway we will determine our time together (choosing from ongoing sessions or a package of certain number of sessions). In each session we engage in the process of soul tending. You can expect us to start each session with a brief centering practice and then a practice where we connect to the theme that we are tending to. The sessions then open up to a free flowing structure where we engage in conversation and I ask questions or provide insights (intuitive, psychological, spiritual, or otherwise) to prompt self-inquiry, reflection, meaning making, or deeper exploration. Sometimes sessions are focused on developing a deeper understanding and awareness and other times sessions are spent untangling something that feels stuck, healing something that feels wounded, or transforming something that feels stale. Every session is an opportunity to be in relationship with yourself and to begin cultivating a connection with your inherent spiritual essence. The next tab lists a number of modalities and methods I use to help us along our way. Not only is it my role to guide and support you in connecting to your own inner wisdom and inner guides, it's also to providing you with strategies to integrate what we discover in our sessions into your day to day life.

Spiritually Centered Guidance vs Psychotherapy

While there is a lot of overlap between spiritual guidance and psychotherapy (primarily due to my spiritually-rooted and holisitic view of psychotherapy) there are a few significant differences 1. Primary Focus Spiritual guidance emphasizes self-exploration, personal growth, meaning making, and connection to one's own inner wisdom, spiritual essence, and to the divine. Psychotherapy addresses emotional well being and mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD.  2. Perspective Spiritual guidance uses spiritual philosophies and worldviews as the guiding principle throughout the process.  Psychotherapy is rooted in psychological theories and evidence-based frameworks such as humanism, psychodynamic, & existentialism.  3. Primary Approach Spiritual guidance also uses divinatory tools such as tarot and astrology & more 'alternative' modalities of healing and self exploration such as guided imagery, mindfulness, etc.  Psychotherapy relies on scientifically validated methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychoanalysis, and trauma-informed Internal Family Systems (IFS).
